We’ve been getting a lot of requests for Beryl’s cheese sauce recipe.

A great cheese sauce is a basic ingredient in a lot of our wonderful dishes.

Although we have included the cheese sauce recipe in a lot of our videos for specific recipes using cheese sauce, we’ve never published a stand-alone cheese sauce recipe.

So, here’s Beryl’s famous cheese sauce recipe…

Mike likes it so much he would like it as a soup.

How to Make Cheese Sauce: Ingredients

3 tablespoons butter
3 tablespoons flour
3 cups of milk (or half and half or heavy whipping cream)
2 cups of grated Cheddar cheese

(Note: T = tablespoon and t (lower case) = teaspoon)

In a deep skillet, melt the 2 tablespoons butter on medium heat.

Once bubbly and hot, gradually add in the flour and whisk well (about 1 minute)

Gradually add in warmed milk and whisk to incorporate with flour mixture.

Continuously stir (like a roux) for 8-10 minutes.

(Make sure it’s not scorching on the bottom)

The white sauce should be thick and creamy.

Lower the heat and mix in the finely shredded cheese.

Keep on low heat until ready to serve.

(This cheddar cheese sauce recipe is so good you could pour it over cardboard and you’d have a great tasting meal.)

This cheese sauce is awesome for a topping for vegetables (like broccoli, cauliflower, asparagus, etc), pasta dishes and as a base for soups and other dishes.

NOTE: We haven’t made a video on just the cheese sauce, but if you’d like to see a video of Beryl making the cheese sauce, you can go to –
